The Spiracles is an Indie/Pop/Alternative band formed by Romina Roggero (vocals), Luis Rodríguez (guitar), Enrique Medina (guitar) and Franco Bahamonde (bass).
The Spiracles is fresh, dynamic, indie pop that lingers between melancholic and elation and seeks to express emotions through sensitive lyrics and sounds that often invite you to the dance floor.
Influenced by bands such as The Smiths, The Field Mice, REM, Astrud Gilberto, Velvet Undergournd, Cocteau Twins, Slowdive, The Beach Boys and The Byrds among others, released its acclaimed first single ‘Fireflies' followed by the EP 'How Things Went Well When I Met You' under the indie label Saint Marie Records on Jan 2012.
This EP includes the beautiful mid tempo Mercy and a lovely cover of 'The Field Mice’s End of the Affair' as well as two remixes of Fireflies by Brian from Elika (Brooklyn, US) and Canu from Altocamet (Mar del Plata, Argentina). The EP features the collaboration of Aracelli Fernandez on vocals and it is a perfect preface to The Spiracles’ first LP 'Last Night I Dreamt About You'.
This album, released on November 2014 by its own label Parakeet Records, includes ten new songs and was produced and recorded by Luis Rodriguez at his own home studio and mixed and mastered by Carlos Suárez at Temple Of Sound in Aguascalientes, Mexico.
Musically, The Spiracles have polished and expanded their musical approach together , but they still preserve their stately and uplifting sound as in 'Hot Day' and 'Unkissed Girl', postmodern pop songs anthem. 'Beneath A Sky Of Stars', a beautiful gem co-written with Anna Bouchard from Austin’s shoegaze band Drowner, is a minor key whirlwind which calls to mind 'The Sundays' meets 'Cocteau Twins'. ‘Waterfall', which is involve in a wall of sound, springs to life as a magical closure at the end of the album. 'Last Night I Dreamt About You’ develops a new sound, with more complex songs but without leaving the sweetness of pop.
